Self-adhesive tape is a product with at least one side with pressure sensitive adhesive. It works at room temperature and does not need any activation agent (water, high/low temperatures, etc). It can be applied directly on the surface just giving a slight pressure to it, and can be:
• monoadhesive: the adhesive is applied only on one side of the backing
• biadhesive: it is a self-adhesive tape, the adhesive is applied on both sides of the backing.
Main backings
• plastic fims: bi-oriented polypropylene (BOPP)polyvinyl chloride (PVC) – polyester (PET)mono oriented polypropylene (MOPP)polyethylene (eg. low density: LDPE and high density: HDPE)
• paper :crepe paper – smooth – kraft
Main adhesives masses
• Acrylic solvent free: obtained through a coating process of a water based emulsions of mainly acrylic polymers and additives.
• Hot Melt: obtained through a coating process of a blend of synthetic rubbers, synthetic and/or natural hydrocarbon resins and additives.
• Solvent Acrylic: obtained through a coating process of hydrocarbon solvent mixture of mainly acrylic polymers and additives.
• Natural rubber: obtained through a coating process of hydrocarbon solvent mixture of natural rubbers, synthetic and/or natural hydrocarbon resins and additives.
